Samsung Nexus S and Nexus S 4G Rooting Process [How to]

The best thing about Android phones is that they can be customized any way you want. If you own a Nexus S 4G or even a Nexus S then you can increase the customizing capabilities of the phones if you root them. It will improve the phones for sure and you will be a way better experience of operating them. The procedure to root these phones is not that tough but you have to make sure that you follow my steps completely. If you make a mistake then things mat get terribly wrong. Things to do and know before the rooting

  • Once you root a phone your Nexus S 4G and Nexus S will not be under warranty anymore. However if you un-root the phone then you will get warranty again.
  • Before going for this it would be a great idea to back up your phones. Files can be stored in the memory card. Messages and contacts should be backed up using software programs.
  • To make sure that the drivers install properly, you should download and install KIES 2 in your PC.
  • To makes sure that your Nexus S 4G or Nexus S doesn’t end up turned off during the rooting process by keeping the battery fully charged.
  • When you root your phones, you may end up loosing all the internet settings. Write them down before you start the process.
  • Make sure that the phone is either Nexus S 4G or Nexus S before you try to root them. The instructions are fore these phones only.

Procedure to root the Nexus S 4G and Nexus S 4

  • First you need to download the zipped files that you need to root the phones. Download and save to your PC’s desktop.
  • Go to settings of your phone and set the Nexus S 4G or Nexus S to USB Debugging mode. Connect the phone you are using to your PC by using the USB cable of your phone.
  • Now see that there are two set of files that you have downloaded to root the phones. One set will be for 32bit Windows and other one will be for 64bit Windows. Use files that are for your version of Windows. You will see a Run.exe file in there and you will have to run it.
  • A black window will open in front of you. To root the Nexus S 4G or Nexus S, you must follow the instructions that you see on that screen. The process should not take more than 10 minutes.
  • Once it is done, restart your phone. When the phone starts again, go to Android Marketplace and search for the app called Root Checker. Download this to your phone.

After the download is completed, run the app. The app will check your Nexus S 4G or Nexus S to see if the rooting process is completed or not. If you see that the process is not done yet then you can try to repeat the steps once again.
