By now, almost all of you know that HTC One X has recently made its way to Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, and not yet officially launched. I know many of you are waiting for this new HTC’s coming up flagship Smartphone to get your hands on. Several weeks before the device is available to purchase, developer PaulOBrien has get his hands over the device and not only this but able to root the device successfully. In coming days we will see many custom rom’s and other methods which will customize HTC One X.
The method is called superboot which is in-fact is a boot.img, when boot will root your device installing su and the superuser APK. The procedure is really simple and there will be no guess work required. This Superboot method will spare you of tedious tasks, such as manually flashing partitioning or modifying the ADB. The method is temporary that means when you will reboot your device again, you will loose the root access and you have to perform the procedure again to get root access back.
Before moving on to the instruction please note that rooting your device will void the warranty and we at Androidxpert.com will not be held liable for any damage cause to your device. There are some pre-requisites you should do before rooting HTC One X.
Pre-requisites:-
- There are always chances of losing the data while rooting or updating any firmware, so it is advisable to move all your data from phone memory. For that you have to backup your important data like messages, music, contacts, videos and everything else.You can back up your data by following our guide on how-to-back-up-android-device-data-before-firmware-update
- Make sure that device has minimum 50% battery life so that it should not interrupt the rooting process.
- Ensure that you have disabled the Security Suites, Firewall Tools along with the PC tools as these software’s can interrupt your updating process.
- Enabled the USB debugging mode by following “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.
Instruction to Root HTC One X with Superboot:-
- Download the Superboot.zip on your computer.
- Extract the zip folder and you,ll see the 12 files there.
- Switch of your device and turn on with pressing ‘volume down’ button to enter in the bootloader mode.
- Connect your device with your PC via USB Cable.
- Select one of the rooting procedure:-
For WINDOWS – run the file by double clicking ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
For MAC – Launch terminal window to the directory containing the 12 files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’
For LINUX -Launch terminal window to the directory containing the 12 files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh’
- Your device will reboot automatically.
- After turning on look out for the SUPERUSER app and if you can see the app then you are successfully rooted.
