The Amazon Kindle Fire has proven itself as a very versatile and a popular device and there is no lack of development for the device. As the development of this popular Kindle Fire goes on, xda senior member pokey9000 developed a custom bootloader FireFireFire for the Kindle Fire, but it seems like he is no more working on it. But the development goes on and the torch is transferred to Senior Member kinfauns.
kinfauns updated version brings a few noted changes which you may prefer to the original, such as a different boot logo and a shorter fastboot window which will shear 5 seconds off the boot time. Those who are not aware of FireFireFire, here are some features which offer increased functionality over the stock bootloader in 3 ways in words of developer:
- Recovery Selection – As the Kindle Fire boots up, the power button LED will change from bright green to a dim green. Once it changes to a dim green, press the power button again and release (repeat a few times to be sure). The LED will then change to an orange color indicating recovery selection and boot into recovery.
- Enable Fastboot – As described above, when the power button LED changes to a dim green, the Kindle Fire will enter fastboot mode for approximately 4-5 seconds. During this time, fastboot commands can be issued and the device will remain in fastboot until it is rebooted.
- Write Partition Tables – During fastboot, issuing a ‘fastboot oem format’ command will overwrite the existing partition table with the stock table values.
For those who want to shear 5 seconds off the boot can find download links and more information on the original development thread and updated version. Be sure to make a backup in case anything goes awry.
