If you are interested in buying an android phone but tight on your budget, you could settle for a low end android based smart phones of which many have been launched by Samsung recently in response to the demand for low end androids. The Galaxy 5 i5503 was launched along with a series of other Galaxy phones like the Galaxy 3 and Galaxy S. meanwhile the Galaxy POP S5570 aka Galaxy mini is a part of the new range of phones which Samsung has launched from low to high end range. With both the Galaxy POP and Galaxy 5 being easy on the pocket it might be difficult to decide which is a better deal.

1)      Display and camera: The Galaxy 5 i5503 has a 2.8 TFT touch screen with a resolution of 240×320 and also has an accelerometer foe auto rotate. It also has a 2MP camera and photos can be shot with a maximum resolution of 1600×1200.The Galaxy POP 5570 aka Galaxy mini comes with a bigger screen of about 3.14 inches equipped with a accelerometer as well but lacks a proximity sensor. It also has an improved 3.15 MP camera and photos can be shot with a maximum resolution of 2048×1536.Both phones support Geo tagging. They also support video recording at the rate of 15 frames per second but however they lack a secondary camera on them.

2)       Memory:The Galaxy 5 i5503 has a 170 MB internal memory along with a 1GB microSD card expandable up to 16GB .on the other hand the Galaxy POP S5570 aka Galaxy mini has a 160 MB internal memory along with a 2GB microSD card expandable up to 32GB.

3)      Connectivity: Both the Galaxy 5 and the Galaxy mini have GSM bands: 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA bands: 900/2100 as well as the latest Wi-Fi bands: 802.11n and also the older ones like the b and g. Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP is featured on both phones. USB connectivity via Micro USB 2.0 is also supported. DLNA is available on the Galaxy 5 but is not featured on the Galaxy mini. Wi-Fi hotspot and portable hotspot feature is supported only on the Galaxy mini but both support stereo FM Radio.

4)      Operating system:The Galaxy 5 and the Galaxy mini are both android based smart phones. The Galaxy 5 runs a much older version of android i.e. version 2.1 aka éclair where as the Galaxy mini runs a newer version the 2.2.

5)      Battery and processor:Though the Galaxy 5 i5503 and the Galaxy mini have only a 1200mAh battery it is pretty decent considering that these phones are pretty low end. Battery life on both the phones are about the same with the Galaxy 5 having around 521 hours of standby time and 9.5 hrs of talk time on 2G and the Galaxy mini about 570 hrs of standby and 9.5 hrs of talk time.Both phones have the same 600 MHz processor but the Galaxy mini is also equipped with an adreno 200 GPU and based on a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset
