Updating Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 with KIES Gingerbread XXKG5 release [How to]

Please note that this update will work only for Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 and not for any other model. Anyhow, if someone tries this on any other phone then results will be unexpectedly drastic for that Smartphone. Now, if you are sure that your phone model is Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 then can follow the steps below.

Pre Requisites for XXKG5 Gingerbread update on Samsung Galaxy S II I9100

Getting prepared:

• The foremost thing would be to create a proper backup of your important files & folders, contacts and any other important data over phone. Also, note down important setting s such as MMS and APN to reconfigure phone at later stage.
• Download Galaxy S2 XXKG5 Gingerbread 2.3.4 Package, which is available in the format of a zip file from a trusted source.  Then extract the content of zip into a new folder over your laptop or PC.
• Remove SIM card and memory card from your Samsung Galaxy S II I9100.
• Next task would be to check battery and ensure that has more than 50% power left in it. If not then charge it well before moving any further.

Method to root Galaxy S2 Firmware to XXKG5

Follow the instructions stated below to root Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100:

• Visit the newly extracted folder of Galaxy S2 XXKG5 Gingerbread 2.3.4 installation Package and run Odin.exe.
• Then set your phone to download/recovery mode. ( To enter in download mode  press down on Volume-Down button +  pressing OK button, and hold both buttons simultaneously while pressing the power button)
• Now connect phone with PC through a USB cable.
• In few moments, ID:COM box will acquire yellow color indicating that phone has been detected successfully.
•  Now select PDA: I9100XXKG5_I9100OXAKG5_I9100XXKG5.tar and then press on start button. (do not check any other option to remain on safe side)
• The rooting might take some time to continue so no not panic or detach phone in-between the installation.
• After completion of rooting dial *2767*3855# to clear phone cache.

Rooting is a very critical procedure and must be done with great care. Do not experiment until you are not very sure about the outcome.
